What is Applied Behavior Analysis?

What is Applied Behavior Analysis?

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a systematic approach to understanding and changing behavior. This method is often used to help individuals with developmental delays or maladaptive behaviors. As practitioners we break down behaviors into small, measurable parts, and then analyze them to identify the cause and effect relationships. Once these relationships are understood, our therapists work on modifying the behavior by providing positive reinforcement for desired behaviors and decreasing reinforcement for undesired behaviors.

Our Approach

Our Approach

On-boarding

We require an intake form, a service agreement and a functional analysis consent form to formally begin the process. We then proceed with a thorough review of your child’s diagnostic evaluation as provided by a psychologist, psychiatrist, or medical doctor.

Assessment & Treatment Plan

This phase includes a parent interview, indirect assessments (secondhand observations), and a direct assessment with your child (in-person). We’ll conclude the process with a parent meeting to review our findings and discuss the treatment plan.

Parent Training

As you know, parents play an integral role in their child’s development. To nurture and support this relationship, we will provide you with individualized support that includes valuable skills and knowledge relevant to your household.

One-on-one direct development

This phase is on-going, and is entirely personalized to the needs of your child. Based on the treatment plan proposed in phase 2, our behavior technician will provide one-on-one support with your child to build their level of autonomy in daily routines and correct the maladaptive behaviors that affect learning and social growth.
